Furla Art Award V

Follow Your Shadow

Premio Furla per l’arte embraces a new format becoming a biennial event held in two cities – Bologna and Venice

Five years after its conception, Premio Furla per l’arte opted for a new format, passing from an annual to a biennial event. The new two-year timing stretched out the planning phase and artistic research, the backbone of the Prize, allowing a more in-depth critical investigation of existing potential. Furthermore, besides Venice, for the first time the prize’s location also included Bologna and its Modern Art Gallery.
Established thanks to the positive collaboration between Venice’s Fondazione Querini Stampalia, the historical Italian Foundation, and FURLA, the leading fashion accessories powerhouse, Premio Furla per l’arte 2005 organized a personal showcase of the winner Pietro Roccasalva’s works at the Foundation’s Venetian headquarters. The spaces of the Modern Art Gallery of Bologna, instead, hosted the exhibition featuring the works of the five finalists – Alex Cecchetti, Rä di Martino, Christian Frosi, Deborah Ligorio and Pietro Roccasalva.
The Godmother of the fifth edition of Premio Furla per l’arte was Kiki Smith who besides baptising the 2005 Award also created its graphics, following in the footsteps of Joseph Kosuth, Ilya Kabakov, Lothar Baumgarten and Michelangelo Pistoletto.
