Furla Series #8

One Palm Closer to the Sky

Guided tour of the exhibition and the GAM collection

A journey through Gupta’s multidisciplinary practice, encompassing sculpture, sound installation and performance while engaging with the historic GAM spaces. The tour explores the tension between individual action and collective experience, examining artworks in order to shed light on complex narratives of mobility and belonging in a globalised world. By observing various works in the collection, such as the masterpiece by Pellizza da Volpedo Il Quarto Stato (The Fourth Estate) as well as others on display, we come to understand how many challenges of the past still remain unresolved in contemporary society. At the same time, Gupta’s work invites us to take action and shows us how even small, ordinary gestures can change our perspective and rekindle our ability to imagine, dream and hope.
