Furla Series #04

Stereotypes

Guided tour of the exhibition and the GAM collection

Andrea Bowers’s extraordinary works in the exhibition address the issue of women’s emancipation and lead us on a journey that invites reflection on gender stereotypes. The dialogue between Bowers’s contemporary works and some of the masterpieces in the GAM—including Previati’s Maternità and Pellizza da Volpedo’s The Fourth Estate—will yield many different ways of seeing the female figure and her multiple roles, actively involving visitors in a discussion on the representation of the self and the construction of identity.
