Furla Series #05

Eco-layers

Free activity for families with children aged 6–11

Layering marks the passage of time, the accumulation of experience and memories, the transformation of seasons and ideas, but it also testifies to the construction of an identity. The existence of each of us, but also of the planet that hosts us, is layered, as is this path to the discovery of the work of Suzanne Jackson: an American artist who—over her fifty-year career—has accumulated several (wonderful) “layers,” of her own, with a focus on the reuse of resources and materials. We shall begin the workshop by building a base with glue, paper and other reclaimed materials, creating an initial layer that says who we are and how we feel at that time. After immersing ourselves in the colorful and multifaceted work of this great artist, we will return to the workshop to add another layer, arising from the blending and mixing of the previous steps.
